For 37 years as a science teacher and department head, I joyfully engaged with a rich diversity of students and their families. I felt both lucky and privileged when they chose to share who they are with me. Now in my work as a photographer and videographer, I am grateful to have the equipment, technical skills and the time that allows me to be both a witness to and recorder of a wide range of life stories.
In addition to my career as a teacher, I have been engaged with professional photography since I was published in the Sunday New York Times when I was 17. I have enjoyed being the professional photographer during weddings, Bat and Bar Mitzvahs, special birthday celebrations, anniversaries and events for over 45 years.
The idea for creating personal video memoirs came to me after listening to the story of a Holocaust survivor who was a young child during World War II. Upon hearing of how my friend was able to survive during the war, I decided to purchase the professional video, light and sound equipment necessary to record his story and the story of others.
